We accept many major insurance plans and EAPs—check each counselor’s page for specific networks.
Yes, we accept several insurance plans and Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs). We are currently in-network with:
Cigna
Aetna
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas
Horizon Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Jersey
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts
United Healthcare (Optum)
Oxford (Optum)
Oscar (Optum)
Carelon Behavioral Health
Anthem EAP (Bank of America)
If you plan to use EAP benefits, please have your authorization code ready before scheduling.
Important: Not every counselor at Life Chapters Counseling is in-network with every plan listed above. Each counselor’s accepted insurance plans are listed on their About page.
If you’re unsure or need help navigating your benefits, we’re happy to assist!
You may still be able to use your out-of-network benefits to get partial reimbursement.
If we’re not in-network with your insurance, you may still have coverage through out-of-network benefits. This means you pay for sessions up front and then submit a receipt (called a superbill) to your insurance company.
We’re happy to provide superbills and guide you through the process—but please note that reimbursement is not guaranteed. Every insurance plan is different, and coverage amounts vary.
Tip: When calling your insurance, ask:
Do I have out-of-network benefits for outpatient mental health?
What percentage of each session is reimbursed?
Is there a deductible I need to meet first?
Do I need prior authorization?
Your insurance provider is the best source for understanding your specific coverage and costs.
Since every insurance plan is different, we encourage you to contact your insurance company directly to learn what’s covered and what your out-of-pocket costs may be. When you call, ask about:
Mental or behavioral health coverage
Outpatient therapy benefits
Copay or coinsurance per session
Deductibles and how much has been met
Any pre-authorization requirements
If your counselor uses Headway for billing, they’ll provide an estimate of what you may owe—but please note that the exact amount isn’t finalized until your insurance processes the claim and sends an Explanation of Benefits (EOB).
These are common out-of-pocket costs that may apply to your sessions depending on your insurance plan.
A copay is a fixed amount (like $20 or $40) that you pay for each session.
A deductible is the amount you’re responsible for paying out of pocket before your insurance begins to cover services.
Some clients only have a copay, while others must meet a deductible first—especially at the beginning of the year. Once your plan processes a claim, the Explanation of Benefits (EOB) will show what insurance covered and what you still owe.
If we are using Headway to bill your insurance, you’ll receive an estimate of your costs. However, the final amount owed is based on how your plan processes each claim.
Yes! Counseling services are eligible for payment with HSA and FSA funds.
We accept Health Savings Account (HSA) and Flexible Spending Account (FSA) cards just like any other debit or credit card. You can enter your card securely through our client portal, and it will be charged at the time of your session.
Be sure to check your plan’s balance and expiration deadlines—some FSA funds must be used by the end of the year.
If your provider ever requests documentation for your sessions, we can provide a detailed receipt or superbill upon request.
Session rates vary by counselor and service type.
Here’s a breakdown of our current private pay fees:
LPC-Supervisor

Individual Session: $150
Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)

Yes, we have options to help make counseling more accessible.
We offer a limited number of sliding scale and no-cost spots through our graduate-level practicum students, who are closely supervised and trained in working with children, teens, and adults.
Sessions with practicum students are $50, and reduced-fee spots may be available based on need. These are a great option for families or individuals paying out of pocket who may not otherwise be able to access services.
If cost is a barrier, please reach out—we’ll do our best to help you find a good fit.
Payment is due at the time of service and managed through your client portal (Simple Practice or Headway)
We ask that you upload a payment method in both Simple Practice and Headway (if you’re using both systems).
If your insurance is billed through Headway, any session-related costs (like your copay or deductible) will be processed directly through Headway.
If a late cancel or no-show fee applies, it will be charged separately through SimplePractice.
We accept all major credit cards, debit cards, and HSA/FSA cards, and your information is stored securely in both systems.
If you have any questions about billing or how payment works across platforms, we’re happy to walk you through it.
If insurance denies or doesn’t cover the session, the full session fee will be your responsibility. We’ll notify you if there are any unexpected issues with your claim and can provide documentation to help you follow up with your insurance plan.
Yes. Receipts and statements are available through your client portal. If you’re using Headway, you can log in to your Headway account to view invoices and Explanation of Benefits (EOBs).
